DIRECTOR’S SPEECH AT THE SECOND TERM PTA GENERAL MEETING 2011/2012 ACADEMIC YEAR

Mr. Chairman, Headmasters, Parents   and Guardians, Teachers, Ladies and Gentlemen, I   heartily   welcome you all   to this important session   to   deliberate   on matters concerning   not only academic   progress of our children but also their future. It is   my hope   we shall all   enter into the net   of fruitful discussions   , contributions and openness   so that together we continue to improve and provide you with better services.

Mr. Chairman ,the school  breaks for the Easter vacation on WEDNESDAY, 4TH April,2012  at 3.30pm,after school  having  gone through serious and intensive academic  work which was  spiced with a lot of co-curricular activities. We shall re- open for the third term, the last term of the 2011/2012 Academic year for that matter on WEDNESDAY, 2ND MAY 2012.

All   pupils/students including boarders are expected to be in school at 7.00am on that day to begin the new term.

Mr. Chairman, there has been tremendous improvement   in pupils’ and students    general   academic performance .This positively reflected   in their  recent  end of term   examinations   .The stellar performance was made possible due to our   special remedial   and morning   preparatory programs    from Nursery to Senior High   . Our continuous   and strategic academic   cumulative review which enables our pupils and students refresh and   go over the topics already   taught the previous   day with significant improvement. Also, pupils   having difficulties in some subjects also   benefit a lot due to the subject groupings which we strictly adhere to. Our new comers who join us in the mid-stream   are   also   given special academic programs   to learn the topics they   have not covered.

Dear parents, with   all  these laudable programs , your ward can  benefit  a lot academically and be an unchallengeable winner not only  in the BECE  but in  his  or her future educational pursuits  if  you continue to  play your undaunted  roles as  parents by encouraging them to report to school early enough latest by 7.00am.  As the usual   saying goes   that it is   the early bird that   catches the worm.

BECE FROM 16th APRILTO 23RD APRIL   2012 AND   WASSCE FROM 2ND APRIL – 18TH MAY, 2012.

Our BECE and WASSCE candidates will reach another important stage in their educational pursuits to properly justify their admissions into top Senior High schools and Tertiary institutions respectively. We wish to assure parents that   concerted   efforts   have been made academically and psychologically   for all candidates to come out   with flying colours. Our enviable records will be exceedingly   defended and I      am hopeful   that come next September, there   will be beaming   smiles. Committed parents, please   remember the candidates in your daily prayers.

 Mr. Chairman   , dear Parents, the   school’s PE kits, school bags and other assorted    ceremonial   outfit   for various school programs are available   at the administration. The   elegant outfit have are available at the ripe time since the school will be having series of graduations running through all the departments next term. We therefore   encourage parents to purchase for their wards. Please Note: Appropriate dressing   enhances   a   child   overall preparedness, self- esteem and a source of pride to their parents and the school which greatly influence a pupil academic work in school.

The upper primary 6 and the JHS I will be  resourced  to write series of examinations  next term Code-named, Director’s  special examinations aimed  at getting them to be more serious with their studies  , be  conversant  with answering skills and also  ginger them early enough for their  future  BECE and any other examinations. Our competent and dedicated staff     is going through series of additional   training programs on these special examinations to enable every pupil excel.  As   a school, we are playing our undaunted role   and we therefore encourage parents to motivate and resource their wards to stand   out in this special examination. Parents should note that   pupils who fail to   perform continuously will be repeated.

Mr. Chairman, members of the house, our strategy to effectively blend academic work    with co-curricular activities, so that every pupil can   identify his or her talent   for holistic development cannot be compromised. In the course of last term, all the various departments Nursery, Primary, JHS AND SHS embarked on highly educative programs. Areas visited were Akosombo Dam Site, Aburi   Gardens, Special Ice Mineral water, Girls Guide   centre at Achimota to observe World Thinking day, Tema Harbour and Voltaic   Water. The school clocked the first position   among 20 schools  in the Adenta Municipal Assembly  during the 6th March Independence Anniversary Parade  ,  the third time we have unchallengeably  attained  the position  with trophies  presented  by the Adentan   Municipal Assembly and  the Education Directorate.              On the international   programs, some of our pupils participated in the UN Model program in New York and Washington and other Exchange Programs in Japan, South Africa and Canada .Next term, the school will embark on programs to Nestle Ghana Limited, Coca Cola, Parliament House, Boti falls,   Akosombo Textiles and a special program by the Girls Guide to USA and UK in July .Detailed programs will be sent to parents through their wards next term.

 The school continues to make giant strides in infrastructural development   in line with our vision of modernization, thus creating enabling environment for the development of the potential   of every child. Currently, at the Archimedes site our 50 seatter computer   lab with E- learning center is completely   furnished and is in full use by all pupils from Upper Primary   to   SHS   . This infrastructural   breakthrough   has   significantly   improved   pupils’ numeracy   and literacy skills and their preparedness to broadly   research even in   general   knowledge and current affairs.
